We first started to look at Merida but see there are more options.
Some of the large agencies are good places to start but you will find more the high end places.
Also on the Rivier Maya side the expat population is a little younger and more independent than say some places like Merida or San Miguel.
It is a small town and you might find yourself driving to other places to buy things and entertainment.

Not a huge expat populations and you will need to be more proficient in Spanish at first.
